Next Gen to Watch: Dianne Mattar Detwiler is Shaping the Future of FRC Global

Dianne Mattar Detwiler

In the world of steel and high-temperature manufacturing, Dianne Mattar Detwiler is a name to know and a leader to watch. As director of electrode sales and a second-generation co-owner of FRC Global, Dianne is earning national recognition for her role in transforming a legacy business into a future-focused powerhouse.

Recently named one of Family Business Magazine’s “NextGens to Watch 2025,” Dianne exemplifies what it means to be a rising-generation leader. Her story is one of vision, grit, and a deep respect for the family legacy she now helps lead.

“I spent my childhood watching my dad build this company from the ground up,” Dianne said. “I knew early on that I wanted to join the family business, but I also knew I needed to bring my own experiences first.” And she did just that. Dianne earned a degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred University and spent five years at Corning Incorporated where she worked across industries from glass fiber optics to ceramic substrates.

In 2020, Dianne joined her sisters (President & CEO Julie Lord and Director of People Operations Leanne Pate) as a co-owner of the company. Formerly known as Fedmet Resources Corporation for nearly 30 years, Dianne and her sisters combined all of the company’s brands into one entity, now known as FRC Global.

Dianne’s leadership is defined by her ability to bridge technical expertise with customer-centric strategy. Whether she’s leading meetings in the boardroom or touring a mill, she shows up fully prepared and all-in. She travels the globe to negotiate with vendors, troubleshoot technical issues, and introduce innovations that keep FRC Global ahead of the curve.

“She’s not just solving engineering challenges, she’s solving customer problems,” says her sister Julie. “In a male-dominated industry, Dianne doesn’t just hold her ground, she sets the standard.”

That mindset has made her an invaluable partner to the plants and people FRC Global serves. It’s also what earned her a spot among the top 21 rising-generation leaders recognized by Family Business Magazine this year.

As FRC Global celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2025, Dianne is helping lead the company into its next chapter with new technologies, expertise, and capabilities. She’s more than a next-generation leader, she’s a next-generation visionary. And at FRC Global, the future is in very capable hands.
